Mataasnakahoy, Batangas │ What could have been an impossible dream had been realized when our humble business enterprise Kusina Batangueña Home Cannery products made its way to the shelves of one of the country's major supermarket chain - Robinsons Supermarket. It is a breakthrough for a micro enterprise to have been given the opportunity to carry the name and pride of our hometown and province, and offer it to the national market. We salute the valuable support and assistance of our partners Cole's Native Sweet Treats, Robinsons Supermarket, DTI, DOST and LGU-Mataasnakahoy for making this possible.

Sinaing na Tulingan sa Garapon │► View our original products Add : For those of you who would want to prepare your own special dishes in jars (garapon) for gifts to friends or would want to start business in food preparation, I have prepared links to very useful resources regarding home pressure canning from publications from United States Department of Agriculture through its agency National Institute for Food and Agriculture, and a info video published by our (Philippines) Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources If you lived your whole life in the city, you would wonder how you would survive and adjust to the rural life in the province. Most urban dwellers only think of the rural scene when thinking of vacations, family outings getaways and roadtrips. But can you actually reside in Mataasnakahoy, a small 4th class municipality in Batangas province, live to tell and share the story, and maybe, just maybe - thank the world for all its comfort. Most of you would be a little turned-off by the tag - "4th class", that comes with the name of our town. I would like to share a new perspective that you can ponder on - the idea of living in the countryside. Plenty of LEGROOM! City living cramps us into tight spaces. Leg room, if I may call it, affects our disposition and behavior. Too little could make us irritable and sometimes spurs aggressive behavior. Mataasnakahoy townspeople are by nature and consequence, very peaceful residents. Hey thanks to our living space, we all can stretch our legs to a plentiful average of 820sqms per individual.
Mataasnakahoy, Batangas | as most probinsyanos would say - iba pag kasamahan, we all put additional consideration on the weight and value of kinship, pagiging magkamag-anak. This expression is totally different from iba ang may pinagsamahan which highlights the importance of a relationship that was strengthened by time and trust, through the common experiences and interests shared. Being born and living in a small town, growing up having kasamahans in the neighborhood presented the opportunity for both values to be realized. A probinsyano father and head of family would have a hard-wired tendency (urge, inkling) to bring his family into his hometown, so his children would grow and evolve in the circles of their cousins, titos and titas, lolos and lolas; and be protected by the virtual cloud of the clan. I for one, am very blessed that I had my family moved here in my place. Probinsyanos have another phrase for that - iba pag nasa sarili. Now the challenge for us probinsyano parents is how to introduce our kids further into our ancestral past, and for them to ingest it.
